Rumput Liar Volunteer in BlangKrueng
Being as a volunteer is one of the happiest thing we do as we help people and try to make something better. here, I want to share a lillte bit how is the background that my community Rumput Liar came to BlangKrueng.
Blang
Krueng is one of the secluded villages in Aceh Besar, Aceh - Indonesia. Blang
Krueng also one conflict areas during 1996 – 2004. There are about 2,600
residents in Blang Krueng. Because of some factors, education in Blangkrueng
little behind. Rumput Liar Community came to Blangkrueng to introduce
Blangkrueng as a smart village.
In
July 2015, I came back to Blangkrueng to interview Blang Krueng village
secretary , he said that Blang Krueng have big ambition in education. After
conflict was ended in 2005, the mind set of Blang Krueng’s citizen have begun
to open and they have big ambition for education. Many children who were
victims of the conflict were not go to school and now they've grown. They grown
up and they married then have children. They don’t want what happened with them
happen for their children. So, now children in blangkrueng go to school but
they go to school just for formality because it’s an obligation. children go to
school but they can’t accomplish their school stuff such as book, etc. why?
It’s because parents don’t have enough income. 80% of Blang Krueng citizens are
low economic level. When they have money, they will think about food and
housing. They go to school, but in Blang Krueng there is no facilititation that
can support them for their school such as a place to read or borrow books. And,
there is no role model for children in Blang Krueng that can give them an
example or spirit. Because of these factors, me and the others Rumput Liar
volunteers came to Blangkrueng to make fun learning class and held some other
event, such as world water day, one book, one experience.
In
August 2015, I went to Japan as Indonesia represntative in Asia Youth Summit. I
was represented our project in Blangkrueng.
